Technical Advisor and Coach –
A Senior Disciple of Grandmaster Ma Yueh Liang
Master Liu Ji Fa was originally a student of Grandmaster Pei Zhu Yin (1917-86), who was the youngest student of Wu Jian Quan and one of his last group of students to attend the Jian Quan Taiji Boxing Association in Shanghai.
Master Liu began studying with Pei in 1964. By then Pei, at Wu Jian Quan’s request, had become a disciple of Ma Yueh Liang, Wu Jian Quan’s senior disciple. Pei taught Liu the ‘Square Frame’, and Liu later studied the “Round Frame” under Master Ma.
Master Pei had also studied under Wu Gong Yi, Wu Jian Quan’s eldest son whom he called ‘brother’, which meant he benefited from studying with three major Masters of Wu style Taiji Quan. This gave him a very high level of skill and a deep understanding of the technical aspects of Taiji form and Tui Shou (Push Hands), which Master Liu inherited.
Master Liu was Managing Director and Coach of the Qian Quan Taiji Boxing Association, and has taught in the USA and Canada. He also visited our Association in London, where he became our Technical Advisor and Coach. Our senior students visited Master Liu in Shanghai on several occasions and benefitted greatly from his generosity and profound knowledge.
